Listening Comprehension – Sample Listening Test

Sample Listening Test

When your teacher plays the listening track/audio, you’ll usually get two minutes to read the questions first. Use that time wisely. The first thing you should do is read the questions carefully and try to understand the context. Ask yourself, “Do I already know something about this topic?”

As you read, underline any numbers, names, or dates you see .These will help you focus on important details later. Try to predict what the listening passage might be about by thinking, “What do I think this listening will be about?”

Remember, you need to be an active listener. An active listener doesn’t waste time .They start reading the questions right away and stay alert throughout the task.

While you’re listening, it’s okay to take notes, but don’t try to write every word. If someone’s name is mentioned, just write the first few letters. Use symbols or short forms to save time.

If you follow these techniques, you’ll find it much easier to understand the recording and can score excellent marks in your listening section.
