Teaching Notes for Q Skills Level 2 Unit 1

This unit works best as a single 60-90 minute lesson, or split across two shorter sessions if your class meets more often. Start with the introduction activity to get students talking before moving into the video and comprehension questions – this warms up vocabulary that the writing task will need later, following the same reading-to-writing pattern used throughout the Q Skills for Success Level 2 series.

If your students finish the core activities early, extend the discussion by asking them to name something popular in their own country and explain why, using the vocabulary and sentence structures practiced earlier in the unit. Stronger classes can move straight into a short written paragraph on the same question, while classes that need more support can work through the guided sentence frames as a group first.
