Unlock 2 Unit 2 Festivals and Celebrations RW Vocabulary 2

To make the vocabulary lesson more engaging and student-centered, the activities can be used as interactive class games instead of individual tasks. Begin the lesson with Blind Flashcards by showing only the vocabulary word on the screen and hiding the definition. Students work in pairs to guess the meaning and decide the part of speech. After discussion, reveal the definition so students can check their ideas. This helps activate their thinking before teaching the meanings.

Next, use the Matching Game as a team race. Divide the class into two teams and display the matching activity on the board. Read out a definition and have one student from each team quickly choose the correct word. The rest of the team can give hints, which makes the activity lively and encourages cooperation.

After that, move to the Sentence Builder activity to deepen understanding. Assign each student or pair one vocabulary word and ask them to write a sentence using it. Before submitting the sentence, they exchange it with a partner to check for mistakes. This step helps students focus on grammar, spelling, and correct usage of the word.

Then, use the Fill in the Blanks activity for speaking practice. Once students complete the sentences, ask them to choose one sentence and create a short roleplay based on it. Acting out the sentence helps students use the vocabulary in real situations and builds confidence in speaking.

Finally, end the lesson with the Multiple Choice activity as a class challenge. Read each question aloud and ask students to vote for the answer. Reveal the correct answer only after everyone has voted, and ask a student to explain why it is correct or why another option is wrong. This review helps check understanding and reinforces learning.
