Unlock 2 -Unit 2 – Festivals and celebrations – LS – Vocabulary 1

Unlock 2 Unit 2 Festivals and Celebrations LS Vocabulary 1

The lesson begins with a short warm-up where the teacher shows pictures or a short video of a festival, sculptures, and ice displays. Students are asked what they can see and which words they already know, such as festival, culture, or frozen. The teacher briefly introduces the new vocabulary and shares this interactive vocabulary page with the students.

Students then work in pairs to read the vocabulary words, meanings, and parts of speech. They take turns explaining the words to each other and matching them with pictures or examples (for example, matching sculpture with a figure made of stone or melt with ice changing into water).

Next, students complete interactive activities such as multiple-choice questions, matching tasks, and flashcards using words like advertise, display, economy, traditional, and entertainment. The teacher walks around the class, helps when needed, and encourages students to use the words while speaking.

After that, students use a sentence builder to write true sentences about festivals, culture, or activities in their own city (for example, how a festival attracts visitors or how ice sculptures can melt). Students share their sentences with a partner or the class.

The lesson ends with a fun word game such as a word scramble or quick quiz using all the new vocabulary. For homework, students choose one word and either write a short sentence, draw a picture, or take a photo of something in their town that matches the word.
